Problem Note 60059: SAS® numeric variables are incorrectly stored as character variables when exported to SPSS using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to PC Files
When you create an SPSS (.sav) file using the EXPORT procedure, numeric columns are incorrectly stored as character data types in the output file.
This problem occurs when the SAS data set contains mixed numeric and character columns, and one or more character columns is longer than 255 bytes in width.
To work around the problem, ensure that character columns are less than 255 bytes wide before exporting the data to SPSS.
